About Me

I am the divorced proud father of my 16-year-old son. I reside in my hometown of Sheridan, Wyoming, where I have lived most of my life.

We enjoy watching sports, traveling to sporting events, and spending time in the Bighorn Mountains each summer.

While employed as a probation officer, I was in an inappropriate consensual relationship with an adult female who was on probation with my department. Unfortunately, this resulted in a felony conviction of Third Degree Sexual Assault. I was not her probation officer and there was no element of coercion or intimidation. The charge against me only required an employee of my department to have a relationship with someone they knew to be under control of the department.

Due to the nature of the offense, I received no jail time and only two years of probation which was successfully completed in 2016. The offense is not considered violent under Wyoming statute. I have regained both my voting and firearm rights. I had nothing on my record prior to 2014 and I have had nothing since.

Unfortunately, we live in a society in which people can be quick to judge someone who has committed a sex offense. Some people certainly warrant judgment and concern. However, every case and person is different. Details and circumstances are important rather than making blanket assumptions.

I am not, nor have I ever been a danger to any person or society in general. I decided to pursue a career in the criminal justice system in 1995 after a friend and co-worker of mine had been the victim of a date rape.

I attended school, earned a BA in Criminal Justice and obtained a job working as a probation officer with the Wyoming Department of Corrections where I worked for thirteen years. I worked with people on probation or parole to help rehabilitate them and I put myself in hazardous positions in the name of public safety.

While with the department, I was an Employee of the Year. I was also active in the community participating in drug and alcohol prevention efforts.

I understand this felony offense can be a “put off.” However, I ask that you consider the circumstances and the totality of my work and life.

Thank you for taking your valuable time to read this, and I would appreciate your consideration for employment. I am happy to provide documentation or references.
